San José, Buenos Aires

San José is a ''localidad'' (district) located in the south of Lomas de Zamora Partido in Buenos Aires Province, it forms part of the Greater Buenos Aires conurbation.
The neighborhood traces its origins to 1948, when a region of semi-rural terrain between Temperley and Quilmes was developed. The area experienced a large population increase until around 1975 which was one of the largest population increases in the history of Greater Buenos Aires.
Between 2003 and 2005 residents protested about a mobile telephone mast, due to health concerns including the fear of cancer.
